Welcome

Welcome to my digital portfolio. Here you’ll find examples of documents I’ve created over the course of my career, as well as papers produced in graduate-level classes. You’ll also find my resume and contact information.

I believe, as most professional communicators do, that content is king. Without content, there would be no internet. But it’s not as easy as simply writing something and posting it on a website; content must be thoughtfully designed with the user in mind, in order to improve the user’s experience. Whether it’s teaching, encouraging, motivating, or enticing, the end goal of content must be to incite a user to perform an action.

That action is determined by examining available data, user needs, and project goals, usually with the help of a team of user-centered design experts. Content cannot be developed in a vacuum. It’s part of every building block of the internet, from the initial site analysis to the information architecture, from the visual design to the user-acceptance testing. No individual piece of the process can exist without appropriate content.

My first duty as a professional communicator is to develop the content strategy that will drive the content to meet its end goal or goals. Using that strategy, I then develop the actual content. Throughout the process, careful consideration is paid to the principles of user-centered design: The user is always at the forefront of everything I strategize, write, and develop. Without content, there would be no internet. But without users, there would be no need for content.
